New Drawback: Arrogance

Arrogance

Cost: 25 Hero Points

You feel a self worth and importance above all, it could be a certain race/sex or group of people. You just deem yourself better, because of the lies you told yourself, or more like the lies you told about yourself, you now believe to be lies to be truth. Pumping up your own ego where ever you go with an air of superiority in your step. Others either laugh at it, respect or fear it.

Should your character's arrogance be challenged someone how (i.e. in battle, in conversation, in status..etc) he MUST act on it, or pay a price of 5 Hero Points. Should your character pay the 5 Hero Points to avoid it, he will pay it and leave the situation if possible. Arrogance Penalty can only apply once every 24 hours. If your character is challenged again during the "cool down" period of 24 hrs, the player or GM can decide to act upon it or not. Reminder: playing out your drawbacks do earn rewards in the end.

New Advantage/Drawback: Determination

Determination

Cost: 50 Hero Points

This could be an advantage and drawback at the same time, so its up to the player and GM how they want to handle how this works. Because Determination as an advantage can work be applied towards, your hero is determined and puts his all into solving cases, saving the girl, capturing the villain, proving things..etc.

All at the same time, the very thing that "drives" them to do all of the above can turn into obsessions, in life. Saving the girl or capturing the villain at all costs, finding the evidence needed, even if staying up all night. How far will the hero go?

This may also be applied to villain characters, as determination can drive their criminal activities, their obsessions with a certain hero (ehem, Superman for Lex anyone?)

The GM or the player can use this when playing out the character in game. A player can say his character is doing this due to his Determination (for better or worse). A GM can entice a player's character with various things keeping the character distracted.

New Advantage: Faith

Faith

Cost: 25 Hero Points

All people in the world believe in something or someone. This is where Faith comes into play, it can be a driving force in a character's life, compelling them to do things and it can also help them out of dire situations.

A character who uses faith in their build receives a +2 column shift against intimidation checks when their composure is tested. Should their whole existence or reason for crime fighting be called to reason, this will help them through.

New Advantage: Wealthy

I had to use this picture. I grew up watching wrestling as a kid in the '80s and well frankly this is an '80s game, I am just updating and why not use the most iconic money guy in wrestling to present a new advantage called Wealthy! Following the rules in the book, this falls under Misc Advantage type.

Wealthy

Cost: 50 Hero Points

This is pretty simple, you are a very rich man, you are a CEO of your own company that hit the big time. Sit with your Game Master and devise a back story for your company. This could be as simple as you inherited it from your family to you invented some weird new device that all the kids are raving about. Maybe you invented Post-its or the short cigarette, who knows your imagination is yours!

Characters will this advantage will automatically have their wealth moved up to a 10, which entitles them to $25,000 weekly salary, with a yearly income of about $1m. Depending on your age, you could have some savings as well. See Chart Below.

Wealth Chart for 2021 and ongoing

So here is the wealth chart that's listed in the DC books, I went up to 25 to represent Lex Luthor's fortune and worth in the 2020s.

I will say I rarely use this chart and the wealth system in the game because when I run games, I normally put my PCs into a position where they really don't need to worry about "superhero money". Sure they will have a salary as listed, but its more for lifestyle purposes when they aren't playing their superhero.

Generally in my games, if your character is a teenager, his salary would be anywhere from 0 to 3, because you are living at home with the folks and probably have a part time job while going to school and into college.

If you are in your 20s, generally your salary will fall under 4 to 5 range as you are probably still finishing up a degree or just entering into the real work force with your first real 9 to 5 job.

If you are in your 30s, generally your salary will fall under 5 to 6 range as you are probably making decent money, unless you picked skills and provided a decent background that would push you up further or picked the wealth advantage.

Explaining it all on this blog

In 2020, during the COVID-19 lock-down, I remembered I created this blog out of sheer boredom and a desire to bring my old notebook scribbles to the virtual world. However, I quickly became overwhelmed by the task of designing the necessary templates for the characters, and ultimately abandoned the project. As lock-downs lifted and life began to return to some semblance of normalcy in 2021, I rediscovered my love for this game and realized that I had a wealth of material still from the past and from my short-lived "GOTHAM LEGENDS"  game on my YouTube channel. Among these treasures are countless write-ups, as well as my personal creation, Nightfall Bay, a custom city of my own design.
